Fall Color Hunting, MI
This is a Michigan thing it seems. I was lucky enough to be flying a route to Ironwood for a few months in the fall and I love taking pictures. There really isn’t a set “place” to go per say. You just have to drive around until you find what you are looking for. Luckily there are logging roads everywhere in the UP and thats where I had the most luck. I just happened to see a glimmer of yellow leaves while driving around in the middle of nowhere and went towards it!
My trek took me from the airport far from the city center and towards Lake Superior. It also took me multiple days of coming back. This was the final result!
There are also usually some cool log piles to be found, but Id advise not being there when people are working. Duh.
Fall colors via drone. This was the hardest one to get because most of the time the trees are not all uniform. It is nature after all. However when you have nothing but free time in a location like this why not go everyday until you get it. And thats what I did!
You have to be vigilant too or youll miss it. It only took 3 days for that road in the first picture to look like this. Click HERE for directions on where I took these shots. Make sure to not block the road, logging trucks are bigger than you!
