Indiana Dunes Lakeshore, IN
Another weekend adventure from Lansing! Summer was just kicking off so beach days were the plan. Andrea told me that you could actually swim in Lake Michigan. I was skeptical. I moved to Michigan in September of 2017 so all I really knew was the cold lake with titanic sinking icebergs in it. Ok not really but still it has a lot of ice in it.
Our fluff smelling all the farm smells. I think this one was Eau De Cow Poo. Her favorite!
We got there late ish on Saturday, and I think the goal was the catch the sunset over the lake. Mission accomplished.
Parked! Ready for the show!
Sadly that massive storm building over the lake blocked out the sun, but the colors were still stunning. And Fluff got to go swimming!
The usual, me doing hipster things, thing.
Next day! We got to the dunes fairly early. I wanted to check out a park ranger tour of the off limits dunes. It included some interesting geography and facts, and carried on for what I thought to be tooooo long. Could be condensed a bit. But still look at that water?!?
Down at the water finally! Fluff was ready to get her swim on! As was I, yet I was still skeptical. It was about 80 degrees outside so if there was going to be a perfect first time to get in some cold water this was the day. I think the lake report said the water temp was in the 50s.
I did it! And it was COLD. Ok it wasn’t that cold. It was actually pretty refreshing.
Andrea even went in for a minute! We’ve determined that like most women shes cold blooded. Not because shes mean! Shes just cold all the time. Which makes no sense because shes so dang hot!
Suki was THRILLED! She never gets in deeper than her tail so I wanted to see if she would swim, and she does! But she doesn’t like getting her princess tail wet. Silly fluff.
Thanks for reading! Hope you find some time to check out the Indiana Dunes Lakeshore. Its worth the drive from Michigan, the water is nice, the beaches are nice, and its pup friendly!beach, dunes, explore, in, indiana, lake, lake life, lakeshore, mi, michigan, roadtrip, sunday, travel, wanderlust, weekend
