This is a place so good its almost spiritual. Andrea and I were touring around the American southwest and I found it on Airbnb. Click HERE for their Airbnb page. Its hands down the coolest place ive ever spent a night in my life. The hosts were fantastic and the story behind the pods made it that much more awesome. So theres two guys that run the place, the owner Mark and his friend Chris. The two of them built the whole thing. By themselves. They didn’t miss a single detail either. Its off grid completely yet they have enough solar to run AC or heat all night, seemingly unlimited hot water for showers, and provide you with a ton of cooking supplies. Right down to the creamer for coffee in the morning. The beds are super comfortable and the bathroom is fit for royalty. Still cant believe its available to rent. Id hog this whole place to myself If I owned it.
We arrived in the evening just before sunset. We were greeted by Chris and then shown how to get to the property. Its a nice distance away from any other people. Chris lives near by though so he can come save the day should anything happen.
That evening we lit a fire in the pit, with the wood provided by our hosts (they even have lighters for you to use). And we just sat there in amazement at how stunning the night sky was. Andrea scared the crap out of me and tripped over a rock in the campground and about broke her leg. Thankfully after a few tears she was ok, just a bit bruised from the fall.
The next morning we slept in a bit in the cozy pod, heated to a nice 70+ degrees. I got brave and ventured out into the cold November air to get some pics at some point. And I had to pee like a racehorse.
Sadly we only spent the one night there and had to press on, I had some action packed plans for Joshua Tree that afternoon. I think this is the perfect spot for a weekend or long weekend get away. Just getting a taste of it makes me want to go back and spend at minimum 3-4 days there. I hope this inspires you to go check it out! Thanks again to Mark and Chris for making this available to everyone!airbnb, amazing, arizona, california, desert, eco pod, eco pods, nevada, ridgecrest, roadtrip, southwest, usa
