Salvation mountain is a strange place in the middle of nowhere. It was built by one man, Leonard Knight. Working for many years at the end of his life, its made of donated paint, and patchwork.
Since Leonard’s passing, its been protected by a group of volunteers.
Near by is the town of Slab City. Another wonder of the middle of nowhere. Its claimed to be the last free place in the world. Occupied by squatters, its a community of people just doing their thing. Everyone I talked to was exceedingly nice.
There is a library and a skate park there! Its a fascinating place to witness some very non conformist lifestyles. Thanks for reading!
